Prednisone

Prednisone is a "steroid" anti-inflammatory medication that is used for severe allergic reactions such as poison oak or poison ivy dermatitis. Long-term use of prednisone for cancer treatment, severe asthma, severe forms of arthritis, or other medical conditions has many potential side effects. Short term use of this medication is much safer but has some mild side effects such as upset stomach and fluid retention which can cause swelling in the legs. A less common but significant side effect is a rare psychotic reaction in which strange behavioral changes are noted. If you have any significant problems with this medication, please contact me. The following is a schedule of the # of pills to be taken morning and night. The pills should be taken with food.
