Podiatry practice specializing in Sports Medicine and Foot & Ankle Surgery, incorporated into the Palo Alto Medical Foundations' multispecialty Sports Medicine group in 1993. Clinical & research interests include sports medicine/running injuries, chronic ankle pain (ankle osteochondral injuries), Achilles and Peroneal Tendons, stress fractures, midfoot injuries (Lisfranc’s), revision surgery, flatfoot surgery and 1st MPJT arthritis. International and nationally recognized speaker and author. Many of the scientific studies contain data on some of the numbers of a given injury. (See publications & “pub med” list.) Served as podiatrist for the 1992, 2000 & 2004 Olympic Track and Field Trials, U.S.A. Track and Field Medical Committee. Published in several Orthopaedic peer-reviewed journals including Foot & Ankle Int’l, and American Journal of Sports Medicine. Editorial Board for Foot and Ankle Quarterly, reviewer for Journal of Foot & Ankle Surgery. Board Certified/Re-certified in Foot and Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle Surgery (American Board of Podiatric Surgery), Fellow American College of Foot & Ankle Surgeons. Served as Team Podiatrist for Stanford University (1989-92), University of Notre Dame Football and local high school athletic teams covering major track and cross country meets. Consultant on athletic shoe design for Adidas, Puma, Etonic and Reebok. Lecturer at California and Scholl (Chicago) Colleges of Podiatric Medicine and American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons Annual Meeting. Director of Fellowship, Resident & Student training at PAMF. Actively publishing scientific and "lay" articles and serving as injury prevention analyst for ESPN's "Road Race of the Month." Practice currently has treated dozens of Olympians (including Gold Medalists), and Olympic Trials qualifiers, numerous professional athletes, and many of the top area high school athletic scholarship winners. Authored the club's by-laws, established research grants for students and the first Annual Orthoses Seminar, allocated funding for a treadmill and allowed students from local medical schools to participate in club activities. Founder and Director, Summer Running Clinics 1986-1987 Funded this free community service project by obtaining a grant from PUMA, which covered all advertising and equipment costs. Clinics are conducted at major Chicago road races, increasing the visibility and patient load of S.C.P.M. by providing injury prevention, footwear and training advice.
